Santana – Solar Panel Park – 220MW
Project Details
The Santana Project, a prodigious Photovoltaic initiative, is situated in Sintana de Mures, within the Mures County of Romania, boasting a potential of approximately 200 MWp and an AC capacity of 159.84 MW. Genesis Partners SRL stands at the forefront as the project's developer, collaborating with vendors under a UK holding company, governed by MGB and NLA.
Unique Selling Propositions (USPs):
A. Land Ownership and Zoning Advantage:
- The project revels in a unique position with its land owned directly by NLA and Santana Residential Park SRL, an entity under MGB’s control.
- The inception of a complex land assembly in 2008 has led to an intravilan zoning for a developable expanse of nearly 330ha, initially for a significant real estate project, now repurposed for this large-scale Photovoltaic initiative.
- Given the stringent Romanian legislation around agricultural land reclassification, this project sidesteps the financial and zoning risks typical in similar ventures, providing a secure foundation.
B. Connection and Network Infrastructure:
- Approval for an electricity connection has been secured from Translectrica, tying into a recently upgraded main Electricity Station at no additional reinforcement costs.
- Potential exists for accessing an additional 70MW capacity from the Electricity Station, potentially aiding in a Phase 2 development without the need for network reinforcement.
- A cost-effective engineering solution for Phase 2 connectivity is already in consideration, involving a second duct for the Connection Line, primed for future use.
C. Energy Trading and Financial Stability:
- The Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) is poised to strike a lucrative deal with a leading Trading Company in Romania for the sale of the produced energy, contingent on the integration of a 32MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS).
- This strategic move not only secures a substantial fixed price income at €120/MWh but also propels the project into the profitable realms of the Balancing Market.
- The Vendor is committed to ensuring seamless integration with specialized bespoke software for the BESS, aligning with the Trader’s automated systems.
Concluding Thoughts:
The Santana Photovoltaic Project emerges as a beacon of innovation and financial prudence. With its strategic location, robust infrastructure, and forward-thinking energy trading prospects, it stands as a paragon of renewable energy development. This venture not only promises substantial returns but also contributes significantly to the green energy trajectory of Romania, marking it as an investment opportunity worthy of consideration.
